Hydrogeology
Chen Zhu has been an active member of the hydrogeology community. He was the 2021-2022 Henry Darcy Distinguished Lecturer and gave 64 lectures during the pandemic via zoom and in-person around the world. Currently, he serves as an executive editor for Groundwater. Previously, he served as an associate editor for Groundwater (2003-05; 2021-22) and Journal of Contaminant Hydrology (2002-06; 2008-2017).
He is a member of the GSA Hydro Division’s Kohout Early Career Award Committee (2021-24). Previously, he served on the NGWA panel “Next generation groundwater professionals” event for early career hydrogeologists in 2021, and as a member of NGWA Carbon Sequestration Task Force (2007-08). He also gave a pro bono workshop on geochemical modeling for NGWA’s continuing education program (2017).
Chen Zhu has co-chaired five sessions at AGU annual meetings (2019, 2009, 2006, 2003,1999) and nine sessions at GSA annual meetings through the Hydro Div (2018(2), 2013, 2011(2), 2005, 2003, 2002, 1999).
